NAWA SWEATER

a pullover with rhythmic cables
knit it as a vest or a sweater with long sleeves
wear either side as the front for different necklines
classic but not too basic

Please join the Nawa Sweater knit-a-long from 25 October to 31 December 2024. Simply post pictures of your progress on Instagram using the hashtag #nawasweaterKAL and you are in!

Having knitting buddies and sharing inspirations are the reasons for the KAL but just for fun, participants who share pictures of their finished Nawa on Instagram using the hashtag #nawasweaterKAL before the KAL ends will stand a chance to win some prizes.

“Nawa” means rope or cord in Japanese. Nawa is also the Japanese word in なわ編み, which means cable stitch. On the Nawa sweater, the twists in the repeated cable stitches create just the right amount of texture for classic but not too basic garments for all seasons.

Nawa is designed using Gli Occhi del Lupo DK weight Corilla (100% 19.5 micron extrafine merino) in the colour Soft Stone. The yarn is soft, bouncy and gives a beautiful definition to the stitches.

The pattern can also be worked at the specified gauge using fingering weight yarn. The yardage required is similar. A second sample (vest version) was knitted without modifications using fingering weight Amirisu Swing in the colour Mushroom.

Nawa is available in my pattern stores here and on Ravelry.
